Woodward Campus History

NWOSU-Woodward studentsIn an effort to improve access to higher education in northwest Oklahoma, the Oklahoma Legislature in 1996 authorized the establishment of a Woodward Campus of Northwestern Oklahoma State University. Since its creation in 1996, enrollment at Northwestern-Woodward has grown from just over 100 students to more than 200. In May of 2002, Northwestern-Woodward relocated its campus to the second floor of the First American Bank building at 2220 Oklahoma Avenue. Northwestern also offers classes at Woodward High School. Local legislators have earmarked $1.8 million for the construction of a permanent campus site.  Ground was broken on the site of the new campus building at 2007 34th Street on November 8, 2006.
