Once enrolled, students can receive an ID
card from Student Services in Alva, or Campus Police in Enid.
Faculty and staff must also obtain an ID card.
Patron must
present ID each time material is checked out.
To recheck
material, patron must present both ID and material to be
rechecked at the library or renew the loan online.
Patron is
responsible for all material borrowed and all fines incurred on
this ID.
Patron should report a lost ID card to the appropriate location as soon as possible.
Northwestern
students are reminded of the following policy for library fines and
lost books:
A student will be fined ten cents ($ .10) per day for each overdue book. All days will be counted, including days on which the library is closed. There is a 24-hour book drop available on the west side of the building in Alva.
When an overdue
fine reaches the replacement cost of a book, the fine will be
frozen at that amount, provided that the book is returned to the
library.
When a student
loses a book, he/she should immediately notify the circulation
assistant at 327-8574.
If the book is overdue at the time it is reported lost,
the fine will be computed up to that date.
An overdue fine
for a lost book is in addition to the replacement cost of that
book. A STUDENT
WILL BE REQUIRED TO PAY FOR A LOST BOOK IN ADDITION TO THE
OVERDUE FINE.
The replacement
cost for a book will be determined by the current price listed
in Books in Print; if the book is no longer in print, the
replacement cost will be set at the average cost of a book in
that field, e.g. math, science, literature, etc.
RESERVE MATERIALS
A student will
be fined $1.00 per day for each Reserve item checked out to the
student. This fine
will include all days, even if the library is closed.
As above, there is a 24-hour book drop available in Alva.
Policies 2-4 for
books also apply to Reserve material.
If you have any
questions about these policies, or for further information, please
contact the circulation assistant (327-8574) or the library director
(327-8570) at the J.W. Martin Library, Northwestern Oklahoma State
University, Alva.
Need to know what books you have checked out?
Need to renew a book and can't come to campus?
Do you want to request a book someone else has checked out?
Log into the WebVoyage System with your name and student ID number
On the NWOSU Library Homepage, click the link for the Online Catalog. When the search screen appears, click the LOGIN tab at the top of the page. Provide the required information and you are in the system.
Click the PATRON tab to see what books you currently have checked out and when they are due. You can renew your books right from the patron screen by checking the boxes for the items you have checked out and clicking the RENEW button.
If there is a book you need that someone else already has checked out, you can put in a request for it to be held for you when it comes back in. To do this, log into the WebVoyage system and search for the title you need. Click on the link for the item record, then click the REQUEST tab at the top of the screen. At the next screen, click the HOLD option and fill out the required information (ID # and any comments you have). NWOSU Libraries will contact you when the book is available.
If you have any questions about using the system, call the Library at 580-327-8574 (Alva Campus) or 580-213-3141 (Enid Library)
1.
Complete the appropriate Interlibrary Loan form for magazine
photocopy requests or book requests.
Please fill in as much information as you possibly can.
2.
Please check the NWOSU Online Catalog first to
see if our library owns a copy of the book.
For magazines, check at the Reference desk to see if the
title is currently being received.
If not, leave the request form with the person working at the
Circulation desk.
3.
Check back at the Circulation Desk to see if the
material has arrived.
Some Interlibrary Loan materials have a relatively short loan period
and may be due back before we are able to contact the student.
It is the responsibility of the student to pick up the
material.
4.
Magazine photocopy requests:
A.
There may be a copying charge from the lending
library. Students who
do not specify a maximum charge will be required to pay all
photocopy charges.
B.
Failure to pick up Interlibrary Loan material
once it arrives at NWOSU does not remove the obligation of paying
the copying charges.
5.
Book Requests:
A.
A date due will be placed on all
Interlibrary Loan books.
Books must be returned to the NWOSU library by that date.
B.
Should you need to renew the book, make
the request as early as you can.
C.
Overdue Interlibrary Loan materials may
have a fine assessed by the lending library.
6. Students with
unpaid Interlibrary Loan charges, fines, or overdue books at the end
of the semester will have a hold placed on their transcripts and
enrollment until these matters have been cleared.
The NWOSU Library is available to any NWOSU faculty member wanting to bring their class for a general overview or subject specific tour of the library. Tours include informational handouts and a general introduction to use of the libraries materials and electronic databases.
The library staff is also available to help both classes and individuals with their research needs. Visit your campus branch library or call to schedule a tour, instruction, or for more information.

The OK-SHARE library card program
is available to pre-approved Oklahoma college and university
students, faculty, and staff.
This program permits these individuals to check out library
books from participating academic libraries.
This group currently includes all public Oklahoma colleges
and universities. Many
of our state’s private colleges also participate in this program.
The OK-SHARE library
card program does not replace traditional Inter-Library Loan (ILL)
programs that have been in place for many years.
Instead, the OK-SHARE library card program complements ILL
services, and both options are available to NWOSU students, faculty,
and staff.
Policies and Procedures for obtaining
an OK-SHARE card are as follows:
Contact the
Circulation Assistant in either library to request an OK-SHARE
library card.
The Circulation
Assistant will check your NWOSU library record.
The professional and paraprofessional library staff
reserve the right not to issue an OK-SHARE library card to
anyone who has overdue books, unpaid fines, and /or a history of
not returning books on time to NWOSU libraries in Alva, Enid, or
Woodward.
Cards issued to
students will be valid for one semester.
Cards issued to faculty and staff will be valid for the
length of their contracts.
OK-SHARE library
card holders agree to check out materials for their use only and
not for use by others.
Students,
faculty and staff who check out books from participating
libraries are responsible for returning those items, on time, to
the lending library.
Patrons also
have the option of bringing OK-SHARE books to the NWOSU
libraries (Alva, Enid or Woodward), and NWOSU will return them
to the lending library.
Those using this option must return these books to an
NWOSU library at least one week before the date due.
NWOSU does not
assume responsibility for OK-SHARE books borrowed by students,
faculty or staff.
OK-SHARE
Library Card holders are subject to the borrowing policies,
fines and fees of the lending library.
Failure to comply with the policies and procedures may
result in the withdrawal of library borrowing privileges.
