Position Available: Director of Student Life and Counseling (Internal)

Available: Immediately

Duties and Responsibilities:  This position provides free counseling services to current students, faculty and staff; arranges various awareness programs for students including drug and alcohol, depression and suicide and sexual assault; assists in overseeing campus clubs and organizations including the Student Government Association, Red Riot week activities and R-Unit;  organizes and carries out all aspects of the freshman and transfer orientation program; assists in the Ranger Connection classes including hiring of connectors and organizing and conducting workshops; develops and organizes the student handbook and planner; and serves as the site contact of Oklahoma Money Matters program. After hours work and possible travel may be required to meet the expectations of this position.

Qualifications:  A bachelor's degree is required, a master’s degree in counseling, psychology, guidance and counseling or related field is preferred. Desired skills include excellent written, listening and verbal communication skills; ability to maintain high level of confidentiality; proficiency in computer applications; high degree of organization and attention to detail; and ability to be self-motivated and work independently.

Duties and Responsibilities:  Teach content, theory and application to undergraduate and graduate students; supervise student teachers and Resident Teachers; serve on university committees; sponsor student activities; maintain involvement in professional organizations.

Qualifications:  Master’s degree required, doctorate preferred. Public school teaching experience preferred. Ability to integrate technology is essential. Training/experience in online teaching a plus. Background in elementary education and public school administration preferred.

Position Available: Faculty Position - Department of Business, E-Commerce, and Agriculture - Alva Campus

Available: August 2008

Duties and Responsibilities:  Candidates will need to be qualified to teach classes in the areas of   accounting and finance. The standard teaching load is twelve credits per semester. The position also requires teaching in a distance learning atmosphere, with some travel to Northwestern’s Enid and Woodward campuses, and a flexible schedule of day and evening classes.   Additionally, the faculty member will assist in recruitment, enrollment and advisement of students, sponsor student business organization, and serve on department and university committees.

Qualifications:  An earned doctorate in business, finance or accounting is preferred with a minimum of two years of university level business teaching experience.  Additionally, the candidate should have a record of effective teaching and scholarly achievement, experience in academic teaching and leadership, excellent oral and written communication skills, and a commitment to work with community organizations to increase the interface between academia and the business community.

Position Available: Chair, Department of Fine Arts (Internal)

Duties and Responsibilities:  The Chair is directly responsible to the Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences and to the Chief Academic Officer. Major institutional responsibilities include coordinating publicity and recruitment activities for the department, managing the Northwest Oklahoma Concert Series, assisting with hiring and orientation of new faculty, coordinating program assessment activities, participating in the faculty evaluation and development process, and coordinating departmental budgets and expenditures. The Chair will be based on the Alva campus.

Qualifications:  Terminal degree in music or theatre required.

Position Available: Special Events Coordinator

Available: June 1, 2008

Duties and Responsibilities:  Reporting to University President and the Associate Vice President for University Relations, the Special Events Coordinator is responsible for the scheduling, planning and operation of selected special events at the university. Specific duties include coordination of social calendars with the Administrative Assistant to the President and with other internal and external groups; serving as a liaison with caterers, Public Safety, Maintenance and other University departments; preparing invitations and correspondence; quality control; maintenance of University calendar and other duties as assigned by the President. The Special Events Coordinator also is called upon to support the activities of the Office of University Relations.

Qualifications:  A bachelor’s degree is preferred. Excellent communication, planning and social protocol skills are essential. Proficiency in Microsoft software products and database management is expected. Working knowledge of Adobe software. Weekend and evening work will be required.

Position Available: Assistant Director of Recruitment, Office of Recruitment

Available: Immediately

Duties and Responsibilities:  Under minimal supervision the Assistant Director of Recruitment will assist the Director in implementing and carrying out specific recruitment strategies related to the enrollment management plan. The Assistant Director will also be responsible for the recruitment of a specific geographic region, as well as helping to plan and execute recruitment related events on campus. This position will also be responsible for receiving students and parents on campus, assist in the supervision of the Northwestern Scholar Ambassador program and the student workers in the recruitment office. After hours work and travel will be required to meet the expectation of this position.

Qualifications:  Bachelor’s degree and two years of college recruitment experience are required. Desired skills include excellent written and verbal communication skills; proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office; high degree of organization and attention to detail; and ability to be self-motivated and work independently.

Position Available: Assistant Professor of Chemistry

Duties and Responsibilities:  Primary responsibilities include teaching upper and lower division courses in inorganic chemistry with emphasis on analytical and physical chemistry. Other responsibilities include preparation and delivery of student laboratories; maintenance of analytical and student laboratory equipment and chemistry supplies; supervision of student research; advisement of chemistry majors and minors; and coordination of assessment of chemistry program.
