Homecoming at Northwestern Oklahoma State University will be held earlier in the fall semester next year, but alumni and visitors can still expect to share the same Ranger traditions and excitement.

After a whirlwind week of Homecoming activities at Northwestern Oklahoma State University, many awards were given to organizations and schools who participated in the 2009 Homecoming parade “A Century of Ranger Pride.”

Olivia Yandel of South Barber High School in Kiowa, Kan., was crowned Friday as the 58th Miss Cinderella at Northwestern Oklahoma State University in conjunction with the university’s homecoming celebration.

The Northwestern Oklahoma State University Alumni Association will host two reunions for alumni on Friday, Oct. 23. The Ranger Legends Reunion will be for graduates from the 50’s through the 70’s at the VIP Supper Club and the Ranger Rewind Reunion will be for graduates from the 80’s to the present and will take place at the Nite Lite.

Homecoming at Northwestern Oklahoma State University will finish with the sounds of music and dancing as the band Trader-Price performs during the official Homecoming dance on Saturday, Oct. 24.

The Northwestern Oklahoma State University Art Society is teaming up with the Homecoming Committee to bring a free bicycle decorating contest to the children of the area for Saturday’s Homecoming parade, which begins at 10 a.m.

The Northwestern Oklahoma State University Homecoming shirt is available for all Northwestern fans, friends and alumni. The shirts are grey and feature this year’s theme, “A Century of Ranger Pride.” The back of the shirt lists all the generous sponsors and sizes range from youth large to double extra-large.

Janel Mitchell, Arnett freshman, was crowned Freshman Queen at Northwestern Oklahoma State University Tuesday during one of the first official events leading to the university’s annual homecoming celebration next week.

Members of the English Department at Northwestern Oklahoma State University are planning their first English Department alumni reunion. Two events for alumni and friends have been planned during Northwestern’s homecoming Oct. 24.

Float entry deadline for the Northwestern/Alva Homecoming 2009, “A Century of Ranger Pride,” has been extended to Tuesday, Oct. 13. Entries must be turned into the Office of Student Services on the first floor of the Fine Arts Building by 5 p.m.

Twenty-one young women representing high schools in Oklahoma, Texas and Kansas were on the Northwestern Oklahoma State University campus Saturday for an orientation session in preparation for the 58th annual Miss Cinderella Pageant held as part of the school’s homecoming celebration.

The theme was devised by members of the Northwestern/Alva Homecoming Association and must be used by any club or organization entering the float, spirit sheet sign and dorm decoration contests.

Fans who want to watch Northwestern Oklahoma State University’s football team battle Black Hills State University on Sept. 12, can do so in style and help raise money to benefit the Alva-Northwestern Homecoming Association. The Association is offering use of the air-conditioned president’s suite at Ranger Field for the game, along with 10 complimentary game tickets, 10 VIP parking passes, refreshments in the suite and a catered meal courtesy of the Rowdy Rangers.

During a football season 100 years ago, the term “Rangers” was first used to name sports teams at Northwestern Oklahoma State University, known then as Northwestern Normal School.

To celebrate the centennial anniversary of the school mascot, the homecoming committee at Northwestern has selected “A Century of Ranger Pride” as the theme for the 2009 celebration. The theme must be used by any club or organization entering the float, spirit sheet sign and dorm decoration contests.

The annual contest to select a theme for Northwestern Oklahoma State University’s homecoming is now open to the public—on and off campus. Deadline for submitting entries is 4 p.m., Wednesday, April 15.
