Resources for Graduate Faculty
Updated 5 May,
2008
The 2008-2009
Graduate Catalog is online.
Dr. Murrow will maintain office
hours at NWOSU-Enid every Tuesday in the Fall semester in
Office 118. He will be in the office during the noon hour (by arrangement) for those students or
faculty who are not available at other times.
As a result of the new
"Oklahoma Creativity Project" initiative officially launched
February 8, 2008, we will maintain a "Creativity
& Innovation" web page.
THE 2007-2008 GRADUATE CATALOG is online. Online catalog files are in
Adobe's PDF format.

MEMO to all graduate faculty
- this two-page flyer lists a few items of general interest to graduate faculty
concerning responsibilities of graduate faculty, requirements for comprehensive
exam, requirements for portfolio, etc. If you have questions about your
responsibilities as a member of the graduate faculty, please contact the
Graduate Office at your convenience. [Adobe PDF document]
NOMINATION FORM for GRADUATE FACULTY
- this is a new form
that we hope will expedite the nomination process for graduate faculty.
Approval is through the department chair, to the dean, and ultimately to the
Graduate Committee. [MS Word document]
PROPOSAL FOR GRADUATE COURSE
- this is a new
revision of the form to
propose a new graduate course. All course proposals should be approved by the
Graduate Committee in the semester prior to the course being taught.
[MS Word template]
The Graduate Office has "browsing copies" of The Chronicle
of Higher Education for anyone who is interested. Please do not
remove the copies from the office.
PORTFOLIO issues:
-
ADDED NOVEMBER 5, 2007:
Instructions for LiveText portfolio assessment @ MS1, MS2, and MS3.
-
Effective January 1, 2006, entering M.Ed. students are
required to complete their portfolio within the LiveText web-based system.
Milestone assessments of the portfolios are also completed by the advisory
committee members within LiveText.
-
The
Portfolio Handbook for
Advanced Programs is not just for students; advisory committee
members are required to evaluate the portfolios at Milestones 1, 2, and 3, so
graduate faculty should familiarize themselves with the document, which
is online in both PDF and MS Word format (discusses the "3-ring binder"
portfolio).
-
Milestone 1 comes at the completion of the
10th hour of graduate work and is a requirement in the course EDUC 5010
Graduate Study Seminar; Milestone 2 at the 17th hour; and Milestone 3 at
the conclusion of the student's degree program.
-
For Milestones 1 and 2, the student submits
the portfolio to their advisory committee for evaluation (this refers to the
"3-ring binder" portfolio, not to the web-based LiveText e-portfolio).
-
For Milestone 3, the student submits the
portfolio to the Graduate Office (not to the advisory committee) by
April 1, July 1, or November 1 in the semester they expect to complete their
master's degree (another reference to the "3-ring binder" portfolio process).
-
Portfolio training sessions for
graduate students will be held each semester; check the 'Announcements'
page for details.
OTHER issues:
-
Enrollment "HOLD" - a hold is placed when students get behind on
paperwork and other requirements (admission requirements, advisory committee
form, degree plan of study, degree candidacy, etc.). Encourage your
advisees to maintain regular contact with the Graduate Office and to keep their
paperwork current.
-
Published deadlines are the dates that paperwork is required
in the Graduate Office. Please forward documents as necessary, to help
keep your students' records current and to ensure their ability to enroll with
the least amount of "hassle" as is possible.
-
Students and faculty must familiarize themselves with the
deadlines for paperwork - (1) upon admission, (2) upon the completion of 10
hours, and (2) at the completion of 17 hours. Other deadlines apply, but these
are the ones that seem to be the most problematic.
-
Deadlines are summarized in the Graduate Catalog, section
2, page 10.
