Master of Education The Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree is available to any individual who holds a baccalaureate degree in the field of education from an accredited institution. The M.Ed. degree requires a minimum of thirty-two to thirty-six credit hours of course work. In addition to meeting the general requirements for admission to the NWOSU graduate program, the M.Ed. degree applicant must have completed eighteen semester hours of undergraduate work in the field of education, including a minimum of six credit hours in student teaching. Individuals interested in preparation for college teaching, non-school employment, and/or advanced graduate study in an academic area may select the "non-certificate" option under the M.Ed. degree. Master of Couseling Psychology The Master of Counseling Psychology (M.C.P.) degree is a forty-five hour counseling program. Two additional tracks prepare students for careers as Licensed Professional Counselors or as Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselors. Students interested in the M.C.P program should contact Dr. Mark Davis for specific information about the program requirements, the application/interview process, and other pertinent information. In addition to meeting the general requirements for admission to the NWOSU graduate program, the M.C.P. degree applicant must complete an application and interview process which includes (1) three letters of recommendation, (2) a written statement of career aspirations and self-evaluation, (3) a sample of scholarly written work, (4) an oral interview with the graduate faculty of the psychology department, and (5) a score that places the individual at the 25th percentile on two of the three areas (verbal, quantitative, and analytical writing) of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or at the 25th percentile on the Miller Analogies Test (MAT). The application/interview process must be completed prior to enrolling in the tenth graduate hour. |
