2008-2009 Graduate Catalog is now online. As soon as additional information is available, the catalog will be updated with the '08-'09 roster of members of the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education, the Regional University System of Oklahoma, the graduate faculty, and an update of tuition and fees.

Unfortunately, a few errors made their way into the printed catalog; they have been corrected as they have been discovered; you should consider that the online catalog is the "corrected copy."


EDUC 5010 Graduate Study Seminar, Summer 2008:

THREE sessions are scheduled; the seminar is required of ALL graduate students during the 10th hour of their graduate work. Each session begins at 4:30 PM and concludes at 7:30 PM (or thereabouts). M.C.P. STUDENTS will attend the first half of the session; M.ED. students will attend the entire session (they will develop their graduate portfolios during the second half of the session).

Students need to attend only ONE of the three sessions.

M.ED. students MUST purchase a LiveText account in the NWOSU bookstore prior to the session; the LiveText system houses the graduate portfolios.

M.C.P. students do NOT need to purchase a LiveText account; they have NO portfolio requirement.

There is no additional text required. Students will receive a handout with all the necessary information.

Sessions are scheduled as follows:

  • May 19, Alva campus, EC 101 - key number is A112

  • May 20, Enid campus, Lab (TBA) - key number is E910

  • May 21, Woodward campus, Lab FAB - key number is W804

TENTATIVE Dates for Graduate Student LiveText Portfolio Review Training:

March 10, Alva campus, EC 103, 4:30-6:30 p.m.
March 11, Enid campus, Office 118, 4:30-6:30 p.m.
March 12, Woodward campus, Lab, 4:30-6:30 p.m.
March 13, University Center @ Ponca City, Lab, 4:30-6:30 p.m.

  • NOT for walk-ins; appointment is required

  • Contact Dr. Murrow by email for an appointment

  • Individual attention, approximately 20 minutes' duration

  • Eligible students are those who (1) HAVE NOT completed milestone one assessment and (2) HAVE completed EDUC 5010 Graduate Study Seminar or are currently enrolled in the course for Spring 2008

  • Bring artifacts, documents, etc., saved to a flash drive, CD, or other storage device

  • Remember, if you have 'basic' questions, I can probably help you via telephone
    (must be able to be online and on the phone at the same time, obviously)

M.C.P. STUDENTS will attend the first half of the session; M.ED. students will attend the entire session (they will develop their graduate portfolios during the second half of the session).

Students need to attend only ONE of the four sessions.

M.ED. students MUST purchase a LiveText account in the NWOSU bookstore prior to the session; the LiveText system houses the graduate portfolios.

M.C.P. students do NOT need to purchase a LiveText account; they have NO portfolio requirement.

There is no additional text required. Students may wish to print portions of the Graduate Catalog, available online (see link on this page). The seminar will pay particular attention to Section Two of the catalog.

Sessions are scheduled on each SATURDAY in January, as follows:

CHANGES IN PORTFOLIO "SUBMIT FOR REVIEW" PROCEDURES:

Effective immediately, M.Ed. students who submit their LiveText portfolios for Milestone 1, 2 or 3 assessments should follow this procedure:

  • SUBMIT FOR REVIEW ~ add ONLY the name of the advisory committee chair in this box and click 'Submit.'

  • SHARE ~ add the names of the other two advisory committee members in the TOP box ('Share With Viewers'), then click 'Share.'

  • INFORM the three advisory committee members and Debbie Skinner, Coordinator of Graduate Studies, that the portfolio is available for the committee to review.


MAT test information, NWOSU-Enid campus:

  • Sept. 25th at 4pm

  • Oct. 3rd at 8:30 am

  • Oct. 11th at 10 am

 Call LORI COONROD to register (580.213.3147). The cost is 80.00 and can be paid in the NWOSU Business Office prior to taking the test.  The test is given in Lab 216.   All students taking the MAT are required to present a valid photo ID.


Updated LiveText portfolio templates are now available for M.Ed. students in Reading Specialist and Adult Education Management & Administration programs.

Immunization Requirement:

Effective Fall 2007, all new students and those who are re-admitted after a period of inactivity are required to provide proof of immunization. Information is on the university's home page under 'Prospective Students' or you may click these links:

Immunization records must be current before new/re-admitted students will be enrolled. (Yes, this includes graduate students).


2007-2008 Graduate Catalog:

The new Graduate Catalog is online. Graduate faculty, administrative offices, and libraries will receive printed copies.


The rotation schedule of courses for the ITV programs in Educational Leadership and Guidance and Counseling PK-12 is online.


Changes to Advisory Committee Selection Form:

Effective August 20, 2007 (first day of the Fall 2007 semester), only students pursuing the Master of Counseling Psychology degree will complete the PDF form to select their advisory committee. Master of Education students will complete a similar form within LiveText, as part of the requirements for the EDUC 5010 Graduate Study Seminar and as part of the requirements for the Milestone One portfolio assessment.


EDUC 5010 Graduate Study Seminar:
Fall 2007: Aug 20 (Alva), Aug 21 (Enid), Aug 22 (Ponca City), Aug 23 (Woodward)

Required of all graduate students during the semester of their tenth hour of graduate enrollment. First hour will address policies and procedures; balance of session will be solely for M.Ed. students and will involve the creation of their LiveText portfolios. M.Ed. students must purchase the LiveText license before attending the session.

NOTE: if you enroll in the seminar prior to the 10th hour of graduate work, you are still required to complete all the requirements to receive a passing grade in the course; if you do not attend the seminar, you receive a final grade of F; if you attend but do not complete the work, you receive a final grade of 'Incomplete.'

Requirements: (1) attend; (2) advisory committee form; (3) degree plan of study form; (4) MAT score; (5) MCP application, interview, and acceptance - for MCP only; (6) teaching certificate or license - for M.Ed. only, except Non-Certificate or Adult Education programs; (7) LiveText Milestone 1 portfolio assessment - for M.Ed. only.


LiveText training, summer 2007: Sessions are offered to any graduate student who is currently enrolled or has previously enrolled in EDUC 5010 seminar and is required to submit a LiveText portfolio as a requirement for the Master of Education degree.

TENTATIVE SCHEDULE ONLY: Sessions this summer include June 18 at the Alva campus (EC 103) , June 19 at the Enid campus (office 118), June 20 at the Woodward campus (Lab) and June 21 at the University Center in Ponca City (Lab). Appointments are available on a 'first-come/first-serve' basis at 20-minute intervals beginning at 4:30 p.m. and concluding at 6:30 p.m. For a reservation, contact Dr. Murrow via email or telephone 580.327.8589.
