Amber Stephens
Head Coach
Amber Stephens will become the newest
member of the Northwestern Oklahoma State University
Athletic Department and will occupy the position of men’s
and women’s cross country coach for the Rangers.
Stephens duties will begin in January of
2008, after she graduates from Fort Hays (Kan.) State
University with a master’s in health and human performance
in December. She holds a bachelor’s in medical diagnostic
imaging from Fort Hays.
Over the past two years, Stephens has
served as the Assistant Cross Country Coach and Assistant
Track and Field Coach for the Tigers. An accomplished
athlete herself, Stephens was the NJCAA National Cross
Country Individual Champion in 2000 while attending Colby
(Kan.) Community College. She was also a member of Colby’s
National Championship Team in 1999. Stephens was a NJCAA
Track and Field All-American in 2000 and 2001.
“Amber Stephens is a highly motivated
individual who will do a super job in leading our cross
country team,” stated Athletic Director Bob Battisti. “She
is the right person at the right time to get this program
up and running.”
Northwestern will begin its sixth year of
cross country as they enter the 2008 season.
