Milburn Barton
Head Coach
Milburn Barton begins his 22nd
season at the helm of the Lady Ranger program and is in his second
tenure. He holds a 356-250 (.587) overall record as the head coach of
the Northwestern Lady Rangers. During his 21 seasons spanning four
decades as head coach, he has accumulated more wins than any other coach
in Ranger basketball history.
Barton, who graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in
1970, arrived at Northwestern in 1977 after coaching boys and girls
basketball and serving as the Principal at Ames High School for seven
years.
During his first season at Northwestern, he was an assistant coach for
the men’s team. The following season, in 1978, he earned his master’s in
education and was appointed as the head coach of the women’s program.
In his 20 years of coaching, Barton has been overly impressing. He has
led the Lady Rangers to three trips to the NAIA National Tournament and
has captured two conference titles. He has produced four All-Americans
and was named the Oklahoma Intercollegiate Conference Women’s Coach of
the Year three times.
He is responsible for Northwestern’s best season in Lady Ranger history
when his 1980-81 No. 1 ranked squad posted a 24-2 record and took home
the state championship. During that season, Northwestern defeated three
NCAA Division I powerhouses including: Wichita State University,
Oklahoma State University and Oral Roberts.
In 2000, he was inducted into the Oklahoma Girls Basketball Coaches Hall
of Fame.
On February of 2004, Barton was part of the 12th class of Northwestern’s
elite Sports Hall of Fame.
Barton and his wife, JoDonna, have two sons, Mike and Doug.

Margo
Hamilton
Assistant CoachMargo
Hamilton will begin her first season as the assistant coach of the Lady
Rangers, a team she played on for four seasons.
Hamilton, formerly Margo Dobson, played for Northwestern from 1993-1997.
The native of Canute, was a four-year starter at guard and is a member of
the prestigious 1,000 point club with her 1,251 points. She ranks fifth
overall in scoring for Northwestern.
She comes to Northwestern after serving as the assistant girls coach at
Norwich High School (Kan.) from 2003-2004. In the three years prior, Margo
was the head women’s coach at Kremlin-Hillsdale High School.
From 1998-99, Hamilton served as an assistant coach at South Barber High
School in Kiowa, Kansas. Following that season she was a graduate
assistant under Joe Feely during the 1999-00 season.
Hamilton graduated from Northwestern in May of 2000 with a bachelor of
science in Health and Physical Education.
She and her husband, Paul, reside in Alva. |

Anthony
Goring
Student
Assistant Coach Goring begins
his first season as a student assistant coach for the Lady Rangers after
finishing his final two seasons playing for the Ranger basketball team.
Goring, who was a center during the 2003-04 and 2004-05 seasons, played in
all 60 games while averaging 5.8 points and 4.5 rebounds. He lead the team
in blocked shots during his two-year stint with 38 blocks his junior year
and with 31 blocks during his senior season.
Before arriving at Northwestern, Goring played two seasons of junior
college basketball at Ranger College (Tex.).
Goring, originally from Trinidad, will finish his health and physical
education degree with a phychology minor in May of 2006.

Otisha
Brown
Student
Assistant Coach Brown also
begins her first season as a Lady Ranger student assistant coach after
playing two years for Northwestern.
She averaged 3.6 points and 2.3 rebounds per game while playing in 60
games over her two-year career. Brown led the Rangers in field goal
percentage during the 2003-04 season, while shooting 43 percent.
Brown, from Chicago, Ill., was a member of the New Mexico Junior College
basketball team in Hobbs, N.M. for two seasons before coming to
Northwestern.
She will finish her bachelor’s degree in health and physical education
with a minor in E-commerce in May of 2006. |
