OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The Northwestern Ranger golf team opened up the 2009 fall golf season with a fourth place finish at the Southwest Christian University Invitational played at Lake Hefner Golf Course in Oklahoma City.
The Rangers were seven strokes off of third place, as Southern Nazarene won the event with a 15 under par, 553.
Chad Kunkel tied for ninth place with a 77-70—147, as he lead the Ranger golfers. Bryant Briggs and Ty Billey each shot a 152 in the two-day event to put them in a tie for 21st place. Tyler Mays carded a 154 and Jay Lee followed behind by a stroke with a 155 to put them in 29th and 32nd place, respectively.
Jeremy Rapp was awarded 32nd with a 157 and Matt Stratton carded a 170 to take 42nd.
The next tournament stop for the men’s team will be at the Central Christian College Fall Invitational at Turkey Creek Golf Course in McPherson, Kan. on September 14-15.
