Northwestern Oklahoma State University kicker Robert Mata was named the Central States Football League Special Teams Player of the Week, after the Rangers’ 55-13 loss to Colorado State University – Pueblo in the 2010 season opener.
The 6-3, 185-pound native of Covina, Calif., averaged 41.0 yards per punt, punting nine times for 369 yards against CSU-Pueblo. He had a long punt of 58 yards and pinned to punts inside the 20-yard line.
The Rangers are idle this week and will head to Vermillion, S.D. on Sept. 18 to play the University of South Dakota in a 4 p.m. game.
