COLBY, Kan. – The Ranger rodeo team had three top three performers in three events, while the men’s team finished second overall at the Colby Community College Rodeo.
Northwestern finished 170 points behind the champion Fort Scott Community College and finished 25 points ahead of Oklahoma Panhandle State, who took third place.
The Rangers had three individuals place in steer wrestling. Kyle Irwin led the way with a second place finish with a time of 10.9. Kody Woodward (10.8) and Lucas Camac (11.0) finished the event in fourth and fifth place, respectively.
In tie down roping, Clint Kindred recorded a 19.4 for third place, while Rylan Blankenship finished ninth with a 26.3.
Brett Christensen and Chase Boekhaus placed in team roping as a header. Christensen placed third with a 13.9 and Boekhaus took fifth with a 5.4 along with Dawson McMaster who was the heeler.
Four women placed for Northwestern, as three cowgirls placed in goat tying. Brooke Boulware took home a fourth place finish with a 17.1. Kari Cable and Lindsey Hollond finished seventh and eighth, with Cable taking seventh with a 17.5 and Holland, eighth, with a 17.8.
In barrel racing, Blayne Kennedy was fourth with a time of 36.12.
The Rangers’ next rodeo will be during Oct. 1-3 at the Pratt Community College Rodeo in Pratt, Kan.
