Free food, t-shirts, games and prizes will be part of the Ranger Rally, a pep rally to celebrate the fall athletics season at Northwestern Oklahoma State University, Wednesday, Aug. 31.
The event, which is open to the public, will be held at Ranger Field beginning at 8 p.m.
The first 250 attendees will be treated to free hot dogs.
From 8-9 p.m., the first 150 students with a current Northwestern ID will be given a t-shirt. Any student with a current ID is eligible to participate in a variety of skill games. Qualifiers will be issued a ticket, making them eligible for a prize drawing later in the evening.
The official rally begins at 9 p.m., with performances by the Ranger band and cheerleaders, along with speeches from Dr. Janet Cunningham, university president; Dr. Steve Lohmann, executive vice president; Keith Barefield, head football coach; and Steve Barrows, head women’s soccer coach. Matt Adair, director of recruitment, will serve as the master of ceremonies.
The Northwestern football team begins its season Thursday, Sept. 1, at 7 p.m. with a home game against traditional rival Southwestern Oklahoma State University. The home opener for the women’s soccer team is Tuesday, Sept. 13, at 6 p.m. against Bethany College.
