Andrew Brown, head basketball coach at Northwestern Oklahoma State University, has recently announced the signing of Ryan Bruce, a transfer from the University of Texas-Arlington. Bruce will join the 2011-12 Ranger basketball team.
“We feel good that Bruce is a nice fit,” stated Brown. “We hoped to add a guard with size and a strong ability to knock down the three-point shot. Everywhere he has been his coaches have been impressed with his toughness, intangibles and the ability to find a way to get things done.
Bruce will join the Rangers after a red shirt season at UTA. He averaged 21 points, six rebounds and five assists per game under Wayne Roberts at Glen Rose High School in Glen Rose, Tex. He was named to the 3A All-State team while shooting 49 percent from the field, including 41 percent from three-point range. As a senior he made 79 three’s.
