Three Northwestern Oklahoma State University football players were honored by Victory Sports Network as being named to a list of “Super 72” players. Senior Keith Barefield Jr., junior Brock Wardlaw and sophomore Peter Brooks represented Northwestern with the honor.
The list includes the top six players overall in the "Super Six" and the overall best players at every position in the "Super 72".
"The NAIA is loaded with talent this year," said Jason Dannelly, owner and founder of the Victory Sports Network. "There is an incredible amount of returning All-Conference and All-American players this season. Each conference is stacked with talent making the upcoming regular season extremely exciting."
Barefield, a tight end from Victoria, Tex., graced the list as the No. 2 tight end. Defensive lineman Peter Brooks, a from Fort Worth, Tex., ranked fifth in defensive lineman, while defensive back from Okeene, Brock Wardlaw, made the list as the third best defensive back.
"Making the overall ‘Super 72' is a tremendous accomplishment for these athletes" said Dannelly, "Those that made the ‘Super Six' have certainly put themselves in an elite group of NAIA football players."
“We are extremely proud of these young men and they are deserving of this recognition,” stated head football coach Keith Barefield. “They were factors in our achievements last season and their contributions this year will be instrumental in our continued success.”
