Northwestern Oklahoma State University head men’s basketball coach Andrew Brown has announced the signing of local Alva product, Connor Martin, who will join the 2010-11 Ranger basketball team.
Martin was named to the all-tournament teams at the Wheat Capital and North Country Tournaments while playing for the Goldbugs last season. The 5-9 point guard was also selected to the 89er All-Conference team, Oklahoma Coaches Association All-State Team and the Daily Oklahoman First-Team All-State for class 3A. Martin is one of 10 selected players to play for the Small West team on July 20 at the Mabee Center on the campus of Oral Roberts University in Tulsa.
“Connor is a smart player who can shoot the ball and has court awareness,” said Brown. “It is a big jump from 3A high school to the best small college competition in the country. I believe he has the drive to make the jump and to be able to help us down the line.”
Connor is the son of Mike and Marcia Martin of Alva.
