RANGER SOFTBALL PLACES FOUR ON ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM

The Northwestern Oklahoma State University softball team placed four athletes on the 2010 All-Sooner Athletic Conference Softball Teams, including four second-team selections and a gold glove team member. Therese Beeler, Jacey Juden, Ashley Lovelady and Natalie Vasquez were second-team honorees, while Vasquez earned gold glove honors as a catcher.

Vasquez, a senior catcher from Houston, Texas, was named to her second consecutive second-team all-conference squad and first gold glove team. She hit .301 with nine doubles and five home runs. Vasquez was recognized as one of 10 players to make the Gold Glove Team, leading Northwestern with a .987 fielding percentage.

Beeler, a native of Page, Ariz., hit .320 on the season while playing in all but one game. The junior stole 11 bases, while gathering three doubles and a triple.

From Arkansas City, Kan., Juden led Northwestern in the circle and was second on the team in batting average. She set new records for Northwestern in innings pitched (243.1), strikeouts (229) and tied records in wins (21) and saves (3). The junior posted a 3.28 earned run average in 44 appearances. Juden batted .342 in 52 games and led the squad in runs batted in with 47. She had a .408 on-base percentage along with nine doubles, three triples and three home runs.

Lovelady, a junior transfer from San Diego, Calif., led the Rangers offensively. She led Northwestern in batting average (.351), at bats (188), runs scored (47), hits (66), doubles (14), home runs (7), total bases (103) and slugging percentage (.548).

Northwestern finished the season at 28-27 and will lose seniors Natalie Vasquez and Christina Mueller.
