Northwestern Oklahoma State University’s 2009 Ranger football schedule will include a full slate of 10 games, including five home games and five on the road. Keith Barefield, who has posted a 15-8 record and has taken the Northwestern to the playoffs during both seasons as head coach, will lead the Rangers through a schedule that features four NCAA Division II teams.
The Rangers kick off the season with a pair of home games. They will host NCAA Division II Colorado State University – Pueblo for the season opener on September 5 at 7 p.m. at Ranger Field. Black Hills State will return a trip to NWOSU with a 1 p.m. game on September 12.
Northwestern has a full month during September, traveling to Texas and Durant in the final two Saturdays. The Rangers begin Central States Football League play on September 19 as they tackle the new fully established CSFL member Southwestern Assemblies of God University in a 2 p.m. game at Waxahachie, Tex. On September 26, NWOSU will head to Durant to meet Southeastern Oklahoma State University at 2 p.m.
The Rangers will be idle for a week before hosting Langston on October 10. The following week, NWOSU heads to Rolla, Mo. to play Missouri University of Science and Technology.
Northwestern will close out the final three CSFL games with two home dates and an away game. On October 24, Northwestern’s homecoming will take place against Bacone in a 3 p.m. game, followed by an October 31 Halloween matchup at Bethany against Southern Nazarene. The Ranger’s final CSFL game will be at Ranger Field against Texas College at 2 p.m. on November 7.
The season will conclude on the road, as NWOSU heads west to take on Oklahoma Panhandle State University in Goodwell in the season finale on November 14.
