OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – Northwestern came away taking three of four games from Mid-America Christian, as the Rangers and Evangels split games in Oklahoma City on Tuesday. Both games were shutouts, with MACU taking the opener 2-0 and Northwestern winning game two 8-0.
Both teams had five hits in the opener. MACU scored a run in both the second and third innings to take the 2-0 win.
Northwestern left nine runners on base and twice had runners on second and third, but the Rangers couldn’t squeeze in a run.
Therese Beeler and Stephanie Hines each had two singles, while Katie Thomas had the other Ranger hit.
Jacey Juden pitched all six innings for the Rangers, allowing five hits and one earned run while striking out nine batters.
The Rangers pounded out 17 hits in game two, as Juden advanced to 9-11 on the season after fanning eight batters in six innings.
Northwestern scored two runs in the first, second, fourth and seventh innings in route to the victory.
Ashley Lovelady and Katie Thomas both racked up three hits each, while Thomas and Christina Mueller drove in two runs.
Northwestern (15-19, 8-15) will host Oklahoma Christian in a doubleheader on Thursday, April 8 at the Alva Rec. Complex with the first pitched slated for 2 p.m. The two teams will finish a suspended game in the eighth inning before playing the doubleheader.
