GOODWELL, Okla. – Northwestern’s men’s rodeo team finished in sixth place, while the Ranger women took 10th at the Oklahoma Panhandle State Rodeo on April 1-3.
The men’s team finished just 25 points shy of second place with 290 points. Western Oklahoma State University won the rodeo with 370 points, followed by Dodge City, who had 315 points.
Clay Cudmore, who leads the Central Plains Region in bull riding, took first place with a 164. Daniel Bradley rounded out the bull riders with a 64 for sixth place.
Two Rangers placed in tie down roping, as Clint Kindred and Cole Wilson were fourth and sixth place, respectively.
The Central Plains leader in steer wrestling, Kody Woodward, tied for second in the event.
Tanner Braden placed seventh in team roping as a heeler as he was paired with Ryan VonAhn of Southeastern.
On the women’s side, three placed in breakaway roping. Jessica Koppitz finished third, while Brittany Young tied for fourth and Meagan Peavy took eighth.
Stephanie Williams ended in a tie for fourth in barrel racing and Michelle Bartley took seventh in the event.
Kari Cable and Toya Vogt placed in goat tying. Cable scored a 19.0 for fourth place while Vogt finished in a tie for eighth place with a 20.1.
In barrel racing, Stephanie Williams tied for fourth and Michelle Bartley took seventh place.
Northwestern’s next rodeo will take place in Weatherford as Southwestern Oklahoma State University will host on April 8-10.
