NORTHWESTERN RODEO COMPLETES SEASON; RANGER MEN TAKE FIRST

NORTHWESTERN RODEO COMPLETES SEASON; RANGER MEN TAKE FIRSTMIAMI, Okla. – The Northwestern rodeo teams rounded out the year with the men’s team winning the Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College Rodeo in Miami, Okla. during April 23-25, while the women’s team finished in first.

 

The Ranger men had no trouble in taking home the first place spot out of the nine team field, doubling second place Oklahoma Panhandle State’s score of 325. The Rangers received 650 points as Kody Woodward placed first in the men’s all-around.

 

Woodward scored 210 points in the all-around while placing second in steer wrestling with a time of 7.8 and was fourth in tie down roping, with a 20.7.

 

Northwestern placed in all but one event. Chancy Lovinggood won the bareback riding event with a 157.0, while Kenny Feidler took third. Ryan Selzer finished in a tie for ninth in steer wrestling. Joe Macoubrie and Trenton Johnson placed in tie down roping along with Woodward, taking the second and sixth place spots. Joe Macoubrie and Cole Wilson placed in team roping.

 

The men’s team finished in second in the Central Plains Region standings with 3,595 points. They were 1,347 points back of the Oklahoma Panhandle State.

 

On the women’s side, the Ranger women accumulated 80 points, but still remained in the lead in the Central Plains Region standings. The Rangers hold a 399 point lead over second place Oklahoma Panhandle State University.

 

The Ranger women took seven places out of three events.

 

Four placed in barrel racing as Northwestern was responsible for the 2-5 spots. Blayne Kennedy was second with a 31.67, while Gabriel Gregg finished in third with a 31.78. Maggie Saylors took fourth place with a 31.81 and Haley Nida rounded out the Rangers in the event with a time a 36.59 for fifth place.

 

Morgan Blomgren and Kaylee Nelson placed in breakaway roping, while Robbie Wilson ended in sixth place in goat tying.

 

Though the Central Plains Region Rodeos are finished, the Rangers will have individuals that will participate in the Collegiate National Finals Rodeo during June 14-20 in Casper, Wyo.
