Designated hitter Chris Williams, a junior from Vadalia, La., was named the Sooner Athletic Conference Player of the Week for March 2-8, after leading the Rangers to a 5-1 week.
Williams played a pivotal role defeating St. Gregory’s in a three game stand and downing each Sterling College (Kan.) and Concordia (Neb.) one game. For the week, he batted .545 (12-for-22) with 11 runs, three doubles, five home runs and 17 RBI. Williams posted a 1.364 slugging percentage and tied a school-record three home runs and drove in eight runs (one shy of a school record) in one 18-16 win over St. Gregory’s. The last of those three was a walk-off winner.
