ALVA, Okla. – The Ranger softball team fell in Sooner Athletic Conference action on Monday, as they dropped both games of a doubleheader with Southern Nazarene. The Crimson Storm downed the Rangers 8-1 and 21-3 at the Alva Rec. Complex.
The Rangers only run in the opener came on a Kati Jo Gabaldon home run in the fourth inning. Northwestern had five hits in the game, with Christina Mueller picking up two of them.
Southern Nazarene recorded 12 hits and scored six earned runs due to four Ranger errors.
Meagan Lack fell to 2-6, pitching four innings before giving way to Amy Ramirez, who threw the final nine outs.
Game two was cut short due to the run-rule. Southern Nazarene pounded out 24 hits, including six doubles and three home runs, and held the Rangers to three runs on eight hits.
Northwestern held a 3-1 lead after two complete innings, but the Crimson Storm scored 20 runs in the third through fifth innings to take the win.
Tanya Parker was 3-for-3 with two runs scored, while Natalie Vasquez picked up two hits in three at bats.
Northwestern (9-13, 1-5) travels to Springfield, Mo. this weekend, for the Evangel Tournament beginning on Friday, March 13 and ending on Saturday, March 14.
