BETHANY, Okla. – The Northwestern Lady Ranger basketball team bowed out during the first round of the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament, played at the Sawyer Center on the campus of Southern Nazarene University on Thursday afternoon, falling to No. 2 Oklahoma Baptist, 76-33.
The second-ranked Lady Bison jumped out to a 9-0 lead, before Northwestern scored its first bucket of the game at the 15:35 mark. With OBU ahead, 21-11, Northwestern fell victim to 12-0 and 7-0 runs, leaving the Lady Rangers down 40-13 at the half.
Oklahoma Baptist capitalized on 24 points off of 27 Lady Ranger miscues, as the Lady Bison shot 44 percent on the afternoon.
The Lady Rangers’ Rachel Wilczek hit two of Northwestern’s four three-pointers, leading NWOSU with 10 points. Audrey Richmond scored eight points and hit a pair of three-pointers, while Autumn Klugh and Annalena Farias had four points each. The Lady Rangers shot 26 percent from the field and were just 1-of-13 from the free throw line.
Northwestern finished the season at 14-17 overall and will lose one senior, Keindra Scott.
