EDMOND, Okla. – On Thursday, March 26, the Ranger softball team was blanked in Edmond, dropping a pair of games to Oklahoma Christian. Oklahoma Christian won the opener, 5-0, and took game two by a 2-0 score.
The Rangers got two hits in each game, with Dana Gandolfo and Natalie Vasquez hitting singles in game one and Kati Jo Gabaldon and Jackie Kopcek singling in the nightcap.
In the opener, OC jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning and extended its lead to 4-0 with a three run fourth inning on four hits. The Eagles scored their final run in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Meagan Lack (5-11) went the distance, throwing all six innings for the Rangers. She was tagged for four earned runs and nine hits, while striking out two batters.
The second game was at a 0-0 standstill until the sixth inning. Oklahoma Christian scored two runs off of three doubles in the bottom half of the sixth inning to score the only runs of the game. The Eagles received the win after sitting the Rangers down in order in the top of the seventh.
Renea Tarwater (4-7) was handed the loss, going six innings and giving up eight hits. She struck out two batters in 27 batters faced.
Northwestern (13-22, 2-10) will return to Alva on Wednesday, April 1 for a 2 p.m. doubleheader with the University of Science and Arts at the Alva Rec. Complex.
