Northwestern Oklahoma State University junior forward Thiago Guilherme has been honored by the NAIA as a 2010-11 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete. Guilherme was one of 59 student-athletes in NAIA Division I men’s basketball to be recognized with the honor.
“Thiago takes basketball and school with a very serious attitude and does not settle for being average,” remarked head coach Andrew Brown. “It is a great achievement to be above a 3.5 in a very challenging business program.”
Guilherme, a two-year player for the Rangers from Bauru, Brazil, was also named to the Sooner Athletic Conference Academic Team.
In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.
