ALVA, Okla. – Northwestern Oklahoma State University came up on the short end in the first game of the three-game series with Oklahoma City University, falling 33-7 at Myers Stadium.
Third-ranked Oklahoma City rallied for 27 hits in the game, using an 18-run second inning and a three-run third inning for most of the scoring.
The Rangers picked up four runs in the sixth inning and three more in the bottom of the seventh.
Northwestern finished with eight hits. Richard Burdick finished with two doubles, while Tom Huddleston had one. Wade Schwerdtfeger led NWOSU with a 3-for-4 outing along with two runs batted in, while Jacob Walsh finished 2-for-4 with a homerun and three runs batted in.
Danny Santiago (3-3) took the loss for Northwestern, pitching an inning. Five Ranger pitchers were used over the remaining six innings.
Northwestern (14-10, 3-7) will finish the three-game series at No. 3 Oklahoma City University on Friday, March 19. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
