ALVA, Okla. – The Northwestern Oklahoma State University’s softball team fell twice in doubleheader action against No. 3 Oklahoma City University on Tuesday, dropping the opener 8-0 and falling 5-1 in game two.
Oklahoma City used a four-run first inning to take an early lead and scored solo runs in four separate innings to yield to the victory in game one.
The Rangers were outhit 8-3, with NWOSU’s first three batters having a hit each. Ashley Lovelady had a double, while Katie Glenn and Jacey Juden each had singles.
Renea Tarwater (3-4) started in the circle and pitched 3.2 innings. Meagan Lack finished the final 3.1 innings, allowing one hit and one earned run in 16 batters faced.
Northwestern matched game one’s total in hits with three. Oklahoma City scored all of its runs unearned on four Ranger errors.
Juden was pinned with the loss after striking out five batters and giving up only four hits.
Northwestern scored its only run, an unearned run, in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game at 1-1. Juden scored the Rangers’ only run of the day after leading off the fourth inning with a double and scoring on an error.
Katie Glenn picked up another hit in game two, while Christina Mueller added a single.
Northwestern (11-9, 4-5) returns the trip to Oklahoma City to play the Stars in a 2 p.m. doubleheader on Thursday, March 18.
