The Northwestern softball team finished 3-2 at the Evangel (Mo.) Tournament and dropped a pair of games to NCAA Division II opponent West Texas A&M over the weekend.
Northwestern was defeated in the first day of the tournament by Culver-Stockton (Mo.) and Evangel by scores of 3-2 and 6-2, respectively. The Rangers won its final game of day one pool play, defeating Benedictine (Kan.) 9-7.
The Rangers won both games on Saturday, before getting rained out in the tournament finals, a game which would have paired NWOSU with host school Evangel. Northwestern downed St. Mary’s of the Woods 9-7 and stomped Culver-Stockton 15-1 in a run-rule victory.
On Monday, the Rangers were downed twice by West Texas, 9-1 and 9-0.
Northwestern (12-17, 1-5) returns to Alva to host No. 1 Lubbock Christian for a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Thursday, March 19 at the Alva Rec. Complex.
