Six student-athletes from the Northwestern Oklahoma State University women’s basketball team were honored by the Sooner Athletic Conference on Monday. Claudia Vazquez and Audrey Richmond were named honorable mention all-conference performers while six student-athletes were deemed academic all-conference.
Vazquez, a senior and four-year starter from Tonkawa, averaged 8.2 points and 6.9 rebounds this season. She led the Lady Rangers in several categories including: offensive rebounds (64), defensive rebounds (122), total rebounds (186) and blocked shots (30). She was second on the team in scoring with 222 points. Vazquez shot 35.3 percent from the field and was 76 percent from the free throw line.
Richmond is a repeat honorable mention performer from last year. She led Northwestern in scoring with 9.96 points per game and 259 points while averaging 3.4 rebounds per game. She hit 40 percent from the field and was 70 percent from the free throw line.
Senior Alecia Heath from Chickasha and five juniors, Autumn Klugh of Fort Cobb, Annalena Farias from Tonkawa, Ronita Coleman out of Tulsa, Rachel Wilczek of Lomega, and Talytha Williams from Oklahoma City made the academic all-conference team.
