Senior Orren Tims highlighted five Rangers that graced the All-Sooner Athletic Conference men’s basketball teams that was announced by the league office on Monday.
Tims, a senior transfer from Stephen F. Austin (Tex.), was honored by the conference as one of five first-team members and also as the Newcomer of the Year. The forward from Ruston, La. finished the regular season ranked third in the conference while scoring 18.4 points per game. He scored 551 points placing him 14th in the NAIA. Tims hit 43.7 percent from the field and was 34-for-109 (31.2%) on three-pointers. He was second on the team in rebounds with a 5.2 average.
Sophomores Marshall Bell and Jonathan Freemyer were both selected to the honorable mention squad. Bell, from Katy, Texas, led the Rangers in free throw percentage with 89.6%. He hit a team-high 87 three-pointers while averaging 14.6 points and 1.5 rebounds per game. Freemyer, a native of Kingwood, Texas, led Northwestern in defensive rebounds (119) and in total rebounds (168). The 6-5 forward shot 52 percent on the season and sunk 25-of-66 from beyond the arc. He averaged 11.9 points and 5.6 rebounds per game.
Juniors Thiago Guilherme and Jackson Kajander were named to the academic all-conference squad.
