OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The Northwestern Lady Rangers ended the 2008-09 regular season in Oklahoma City, with a 65-51 loss to Mid-America Christian on Saturday night.
After the game went into its third tie of the first half at 18-18, Mid-America took a lead that it wouldn’t give back on its way to the win.
The Lady Rangers hit 35 percent from the floor and were spurred by D’Shanna Butler’s 17 points, six boards and three steals. Autumn Klugh and Claudia Vazquez both scored nine points. Northwestern was 3-of-10 from three-point range and hit 10-of-15 from the charity stripe.
Mid-America shot 40 percent and was led by Karina Trindade’s 15 points. The Lady Evangels scored 20 points from the free throw line off of 24 Northwestern fouls.
Northwestern will head to the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament on Tuesday, March 3. The Rangers, seeded 11th, will play sixth-seeded Rogers State. Brackets and times for the tournament will be released Sunday afternoon at www.soonerathletic.org.
