The 2016 Scholarship Drive concluded March 9 as Northwestern staff, faculty and community members tallied their total raised funds.
The annual Scholarship Drive is a month-long event in which on-campus and off-campus teams work toward raising funds as an investment in the students of Northwestern. By the end of the drive, a total of $41,871 was raised, with a total of 426 contacts made. Of this total, 219 contacts were made in Alva and 207 Northwestern employees were contacted, 45 percent of whom made a donation.
In conclusion of the drive, a luncheon was held and guests were entertained by the University Singers. Gift cards were awarded to individuals who raised the most funds, made the most contacts and gained the largest donation.
“Northwestern has always been blessed with outstanding support from our community, both from our volunteers and our donors,” said Skeeter Bird, Northwestern Foundation & Alumni Association CEO. “We were extremely pleased and surprised to receive such a tremendous response this year, given the recent downturn in our local economics. Once again, our citizens step up and show how much they love to back our students with scholarships!”
