Staff Council sponsors New Staff Orientation at Northwestern

Staff members at Northwestern Oklahoma State University completed New Staff Orientation recently. This orientation gives them a chance to learn about Northwestern and take a tour of several facilities.

Staff council exists to enable non-exempt staff employees to participate in the achievement of the goals of Northwestern. Current Staff Council members include, David Washington, carpenter/events facilitator; Lisa Herning, library assistant; Leah Haines, coordinator of graduate studies; Denise Bay, special events coordinator; Angelia Case, media technician; Debbie Skinner, administrative assistant to the executive vice president; Tara Hall, records/admissions assistant; Kelley Black (Enid), administrative assistant to the dean of Northwestern-Enid; and Joy Radke, campus secretary/events coordinator of Northwestern-Woodward.

New staff members, positions and a brief biography are included below:

Donna Abbott, custodian, has been in the cleaning business for more than 12 years. She has served as a custodian in the Barber County (Kan.) school district, and was self-employed cleaning Kiowa businesses.

Leslie Collins, Ketterman Lab Coordinator, earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Northwestern. She has professional nursing experience with St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Enid and Share Medical Center in Alva. Collins also was worked as a nurse in a private medical practice.

Kaylen Corder, assistant director of the Wellness Center, has a bachelor’s degree in education from Northwestern and has served as a personal trainer and aerobics/swim instructor at the Wellness Center for two years. She previously served as a teacher at Conroe High School (Texas) and assistant pool manager in Pond Creek.

Lyndsie Davis, Registration Office Assistant at Northwestern-Enid, has completed a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Northwestern. She previously worked part-time at the university library in Enid and was a student worker in Student Services.

Leah Haines, coordinator of graduate studies, holds a bachelor of arts degree from Northwestern. She previously served as the director of admissions and registrar at the Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences. Currently she is working on her master’s of education at Northwestern.

Rose Hartmann, custodian, joins the Northwestern staff after serving as a catering supervisor for Chartwells Food Service. She also was a part-time secretary for a CPA office for eight years.

Susan Holliday, loan coordinator, has a bachelor’s degree in family and consumer sciences from the University of Kentucky. She has prior work experience as a student affairs officer/student engagement coordinator and research recruitment coordinator at the University of Kentucky. Holliday also was employed with Bluegrass Mental Health in Lexington, Ky.

Kris Johnson, residence hall supervisor of Coronado Hall, completed a bachelor’s degree in mass communications from Northwestern in May. He also will serve as a graduate assistant coach for the men’s basketball team.

Marie Kadavy, communications and marketing manager of the Northwestern Foundation, holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and broadcasting from Oklahoma State University. She previously worked as part of the public relations staff for the International Ground Source Heat Pump Association and as a marketing and communications intern with the OSU Foundation.

Connie Kinnard, custodian, earned a bachelor’s degree in secondary education and Bible and theology from Gulf Coast Bible College (Texas). She has work experience as a correctional officer with the Oklahoma Department of Corrections, pastor of the Church of God in Dacoma and as an English teacher and missionary in the Cayman Islands and Kenya.

Tim Lauderdale, admissions counselor/recruiter, has a bachelor’s degree in mass communications from Northwestern. He previously served as communications and marketing manager with the Northwestern Foundation and has held positions with Wichita Baseball Inc. and Fowler Toyota in Norman.

Kristy Montgomery, treatment counselor, BJCC, expects to complete a master’s degree in counseling psychology in December to go along with the bachelor’s degree in sociology from Northwestern. She served as an intern at BJCC intern for two years and was previously employed with Little Sahara Sand Sports.

Gloria Moore, custodian, has worked for several years at K-Mart and Bayless Grocery Store. She will join her husband, David, who also works for Northwestern.
