SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. – In the last regular season game of the season for the Lady Rangers, Northwestern picked up a crucial 81-60 road victory over John Brown (Ark.) to propel the Lady Rangers into eighth place in the conference and gave Northwestern a chance to play in the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament next week.
Northwestern entered the game in a must win situation in order to advance to the tournament. A Mid-America Christian loss and a Ranger win put NWOSU as the final team to make the SAC Tournament.
The Lady Rangers shot well in all aspects, hitting 53 percent from the field, 46 percent from three-point range (10-of-22) and converting 13-of-18 free throws.
Northwestern had a commanding 34-22 lead at the half, and outscored the Lady Golden Eagles 47-38 in the second half, while holding JBU to 38 percent shooting on the night.
Senior Keindra Scott led three double figures scorers with a double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds, along with six assists and a blocked shot. Audrey Richmond tallied 18 points, while Autumn Klugh and Rachel Wilczek hit three trey’s, each on their way to scoring 16 and nine points, respectively.
Northwestern held the advantage in rebounds, picking up 37 as JBU had 24 boards.
The Lady Rangers (14-16, 8-14) will enter the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament on Thursday, March 4. The tournament will be played at the Sawyer Center on the campus of Southern Nazarene University. More information on the tournament will be released soon.
