Northwestern’s Ranger basketball team will meet John Brown University (Ark.) in the first round of the 2011 Sooner Athletic Conference Basketball Tournament on Thursday, March 3. The Rangers and Golden Eagles will tipoff at 9:45 p.m. at Abe Lemons Arena on the campus of Oklahoma City University.
Northwestern and John Brown tied for fourth in the Sooner Athletic Conference standings as they both boasted a 14-8 conference mark. The fifth seeded Rangers finished the regular season at 20-10 while John Brown, the fourth seed, finished 22-8. The two teams have split this season as the Rangers won 90-79 at Percefull Fieldhouse on December 4 and the Golden Eagles defeated Northwestern in Siloam Springs in a 60-58 game on January 27.
A Ranger win will put Northwestern in an 8 p.m. game on Friday, March 4 against the winner of the Oklahoma Baptist/Oklahoma City game.
