Northwestern Women Fall to OBU in Final Home Game

Northwestern Women Fall to OBU in Final Home GameALVA, Okla. – In the final home game of the season, the Ranger women fell 66-51 to Oklahoma Baptist at Percefull Fieldhouse. 

Northwestern came out to hold an 8-3 lead, but as the game went through its third lead change at the 10:53 mark in the first half, OBU scored 12 unanswered points to go up 15-8.

The Lady Rangers battled back to a 23-23 tie with 1:25 before half and an OBU three-pointer put the Lady Bison up 26-23 at the half.

OBU went on a tear to start the second half, using a 22-6 run and held its largest lead of the game, 50-29. The Lady Bison hit 50 percent from the field and 6-of-7 from three in the final half.

Senior Claudia Vazquez scored 17 points in her final game in Alva, hitting 8-of-16 from the field and adding a free throw. Talytha Williams scored 10 points as she hit two of the Lady Rangers four three-pointers. Audrey Richmond led in rebounds with eight.

Northwestern shot 27 percent as the Lady Bison hit 39 percent and added 10 three-point buckets.

Oklahoma Baptist was led by Gabriell Mattox’ double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds.

The Lady Rangers (10-16, 6-15) will finish the season in Shawnee on Saturday, Feb. 26 as they take on St. Gregory’s University at 6 p.m.
