ALVA, Okla. – Northwestern jumped a game and a half above St. Gregory’s in the Sooner Athletic Conference standings, defeating the Lady Cavaliers 67-53 on Saturday night. With the win, NWOSU sits in ninth place and is a half game back of Mid-America Christian.
Both teams suffered from the perimeter in the first half, as St. Gregory’s made two-three pointers, while Northwestern couldn’t connect in nine attempts. The Lady Rangers took a commanding 10 point lead, before a St. Gregory’s three trimmed it to a 26-19 score at the half.
St. Gregory’s chipped away for the first seven minutes, but Northwestern took a double figure lead that held up for the final 13 minutes.
Audrey Richmond and Keindra Scott combined for 48 points, with 26 points coming off of the bench, all from Richmond. Richmond led all scorers with 26 points, while Scott tipped in 22 points. Rachel Wilczek had a career best 13 rebounds.
Northwestern shot 43 percent for the game, as they were held to just one three, a trey by Autumn Klugh.
The Lady Rangers (12-15, 6-13) meet nationally ranked Oklahoma Baptist at Percefull Fieldhouse on Monday, Feb. 22.
