The Northwestern men’s basketball team cracked the NAIA’s top 25 in the ninth poll of the season, released on Monday, Feb. 16. The Rangers moved up from being five votes out of the top 25 last week, to an 18th ranking in this week’s poll.
Last week, Northwestern defeated Wayland Baptist and Lubbock Christian at home and are currently on a two-game winning streak.
The Rangers sit in third place in the Sooner Athletic Conference with a 12-6 record. They are behind No. 1 Rogers State (23-1) and No. 2 Oklahoma Baptist (24-2).
Last time the Northwestern men were in the top 25 was on January 9, 2008 when the Rangers were ranked No. 22.
Northwestern (17-9, 12-6) has four more regular season games remaining before the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament begins in Lubbock, Texas on March 3. The Rangers travel to Southern Nazarene on Thursday and host USAO in the final home game on Saturday, Feb. 21. Next week, Northwestern will visit Oklahoma City and Mid-America Christian to round out the regular season.
