ALVA, Okla. – Northwestern broke a tie for third in the Sooner Athletic Conference with a 77-46 drumming of Lubbock Christian, as the team they were tied with, John Brown, fell to Oklahoma Christian on Saturday.
The Rangers had an excellent afternoon, shooting 52 percent from the field and sinking 9-of-19 (47%) from three-point range.
Northwestern used a 13-3 run early on in the game to jump out to a 23-12 advantage, and didn’t hold back, establishing a 20-point or more lead over the final 16 minutes of the game.
Brandon Dixon was the game’s high scorer with 19 points and nine rebounds. Three other Rangers scored 11 points or more, as Termaine Snyder scored 15 points, Catrell Currie hit four treys for 14 points and Cameron Davis finished with 11.
The Ranger defense held Lubbock Christian to 31 percent and outrebounded the Chaps 42-25.
Kenny Hewitt, the conference’s second leading scorer, added 18 points to lead LCU.
Northwestern (17-9, 12-6) plays Southern Nazarene in Bethany on Thursday, Feb. 19 before returning to Percfull Fieldhouse for the Rangers final home game on the season against USAO on Saturday, Feb. 21 at 8 p.m.
