ALVA, Okla. – The Northwestern Lady Rangers had no trouble with the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma, downing the Lady Drovers 76-53 in Percefull Fieldhouse on Saturday night.
The Lady Rangers led the entire game and opened the contest on a 15-2 run. USAO closed Northwestern’s 10-point lead with 7:54 before the break, using a 10-4 run and trailing 31-28 at the half.
USAO trimmed the lead to two points just after the second half began, but the Lady Rangers warded off the Lady Drovers over the final 10 minutes and stayed up by double figures.
The Lady Rangers shot 47 percent on the night and had three players in double figures. Audrey Richmond led all scorers with 19 points, while Claudia Vazquez was right behind with 18 points. Autumn Klugh hit two of the five Northwetern three-pointers on her way to scoring 10 points and having six assists.
Both teams hit five three-pointers and the Lady Rangers led in free-throws, hitting 19-of-24.
USAO’s Aita Gueye scored 16 points to lead the Lady Drovers.
The Lady Rangers (10-12, 6-11) next three games will be at home. Northwestern will host Wayland Baptist (Tex.) on Thursday, Feb. 17 in 6 p.m. start.
