NORTHWESTERN WOMEN DROP GAME TO WAYLAND BAPTIST

Kelli KrowsALVA, Okla. – The Northwestern women’s basketball team dropped to 9-14 on the season with a 67-43 loss to Wayland Baptist on Thursday night, beginning a two-game home stand.

 

After the game was knotted 16-16, the Flying Queens finished out the first half on a 13-2 run to take a commanding 33-18 lead into the half.

 

Wayland held the lead by 14 or more points through the remainder of the game.

 

Northwestern was held to 24 percent shooting on the night, and made 5-of-14 from three, while holding their opposition to just two threes.

 

The only Lady Ranger double figures scorer was Claudia Vazquez, finishing with 12 points and tying for the game high in rebounds with eight. Autumn Klugh hit a pair of three-point buckets for six points and D’Shanna Butler and Annalena Farias finished with five points each.

 

Northwestern (9-14, 4-13) hosts Lubbock Christian for a 2 p.m. game on February 14.
