ALVA – In its third conference game of the season, Northwestern’s women’s basketball team fell to John Brown (Ark.) 76-65 in Percefull Fieldhouse on Saturday night.
Northwestern found itself down by as many as 16 points with 2:26 left before the half. Ten unanswered points for the Lady Rangers closed the gap to a 33-27 game at intermission.
The Lady Rangers came out of the break with a 9-5 run, giving NWOSU a one-point, 39-38 advantage. That lead would be the Rangers only of the contest, as JBU held off the Rangers.
Northwestern’s Audrey Richmond was the only Lady Ranger to find double figures, scoring 23 points on 11 field goals and a free throw. Mandy Norman had nine points and Claudia Vazquez ripped down 10 rebounds.
The Lady Rangers shot 36 percent and added five three-pointers, while the opposition sunk 10 trey’s and hit 18-of-24 from the free throw line.
Anna Parish led JBU with 14 points, while Katie Mangels had three three-pointers and 13 points.
The Lady Rangers (5-3, 1-2) will play Oklahoma Christian for the second time this season on Monday, Dec. 6. Northwestern will host the Lady Eagles in a 6 p.m. tipoff at Percefull Fieldhouse. Oklahoma Christian won the previous game on Nov. 22 by a 67-53 margin.
