Lady Ranger Second Half Comeback Leads to 79-76 Win Over Rogers StateCLAREMORE – The Lady Ranger basketball team fought back from a 14-point second half deficit, leading to a 79-76 victory over Rogers State on Thursday night in Claremore. The win gave Northwestern its first Sooner Athletic conference win and fifth overall on the early season.

After trailing 38-28 at the half, Northwestern found itself in a bigger hole at the 16:26 mark in the second half, down 42-28. Midway through the second half, the Lady Rangers used a 20-8 run, knotting the game at 60-60 with 3:55 remaining.

NWOSU scored eight consecutive points to go up 68-60 with just over two minutes to play. The Lady Rangers held onto a seven-point lead with 30 seconds remaining, as RSU hit a field goal during the closing seconds to give NWOSU the three-point road win.

Four Lady Rangers hit double figures, as the five starters were the only players to score for Northwestern. Autumn Klugh banged in six three-pointers in route to leading all scorers with 24 points. Rachel Wilczek knocked down a pair of treys and was a perfect 8-of-8 from the free throw line to record her first double-double of the year with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Mandy Norman had 16 points, while making four three-point buckets. Claudia Vazquez scored 10 points and Audrey Richmond rounded out the Lady Ranger scoring with nine points. 

Northwestern dominated behind the arch, scoring 36 points off of 12 three-pointers and held Rogers State to just three treys for the night. The Lady Rangers were 37 percent from the floor, 57 percent from three-point range, and hit 17-of-20 free throws. 

Rogers State also shot 37 percent from the field and was 23-of-25 from the free throw line. The Lady Hillcats were led by Courtney Crockett’s 16 points. Candice Stewart had a double-double of 13 points and 15 rebounds.

Northwestern (5-2, 1-1) will host John Brown (Ark.) for a 6 p.m. game at Percefull Fieldhouse on Saturday, Dec. 4.
