CLAREMORE – The Ranger men’s basketball team fell 80-77 to Rogers State in Claremore after an 18-point deficit at the Claremore Expo Center on Thursday night.
Northwestern, who trailed the entire game, fell victim to a 42-31 halftime deficit.
With 11:40 to go, the Rangers fell behind by their biggest margin of the game, down 18-points, 60-42. Over the next seven minutes, Northwestern used a 17-3 run to get within four points. The Rangers couldn’t get over the hump as RSU held off a late comeback opportunity with five minutes to go.
Northwestern shot 46 percent, hit eight three’s in 22 attempts and finished 5-of-7 from the free throw line.
Orren Tims led NWOSU with 22 points, while Marshall Bell hit five three-pointers to score 15 points. Jonathan Freemyer finished with 12 points and Daryl Glover had 10.
Rogers State hit 54 percent of its shots and was led by John Boyd’s 26 points.
The Rangers (6-2, 1-1) entertain No. 24 John Brown (Ark.) on Saturday, Dec. 4 for an 8 p.m. tipoff in Percefull Fieldhouse.
