The Northwestern Oklahoma State University baseball team was chosen eighth out of the 11 teams that compete in the Sooner Athletic Conference. The inaugural poll was based on votes from all 11 conference coaches.
Northwestern finished last season 10th in the conference with an 8-36 record.
Oklahoma City University, which finished third in the NAIA World Series last year, is the preseason favorite to win the Sooner Athletic Conference in 2009.
The first SAC Preseason Baseball Coaches Poll has the Stars on top with eight of 11 first place votes and 98 points. Lubbock Christian got the remaining three first place votes and was second with 93 points.
