Northwestern linebacker Rocky Lee and punter Robert Mata were honored by the Central States Football League for the past week’s performance on the gridiron in Northwestern’s 31-7 win over Oklahoma Panhandle State.
Lee, a senior from Jonesboro, Ga., led the Ranger defense with 14 tackles. He posted eight solo tackles, two tackles for losses of 19 yards, a sack and a pass break up. Lee currently is ranked No. 5 in the NAIA in tackles for losses per game at a 1.8 average.
A senior from West Covina, Calif., Mata, punted three times, averaging 44 yards per punt. He had a long punt of 60 yards and totaled 132 yards in punts, including one inside the red zone.
Northwestern (7-2, 5-0) will host Southern Oregon at Ranger Field on Saturday, Nov. 13 for a 1 p.m. kickoff. A Ranger sin could sew up a spot in the NAIA Championship Series beginning Nov. 20.
