Nate Guillory rushed for 243 yards and six touchdowns, breaking the single season rushing record, while the Rangers rolled up 522 yards on Texas College in a 71-24 beating at Ranger Field on Saturday.
Guillory scored four first quarter touchdowns and a touchdown in the second and third quarters to break Patrick Crayton’s (current Dallas Cowboy receiver) record of 1,426 yards set in 2003. Guillory rushed 14 times with a long rush of 68 yards to tally 1,466 yards on the season.
A.J. Gibson tied with three other players with nine PAT’s for most point after attempts in a game.
Northwestern jumped out to a 35-12 advantage in the first half while the Rangers had 251 yards of offense.
In addition to Guillory’s six scores, Courtney Jones rushed for a TD, while Kent McDonald and Korey Williams also scored on receiving touchdowns.
Courtney Jones rushed for 101 of the Rangers 391 rushing yards. Northwestern tallied 131 passing yards with Mike Hill catching two passes for 31 yards to lead that category. Starting quarterback Kyle Jech threw for 116 yards and completed 6-of-8 passes as back up Keaton Callins recorded 15 yards on three completions and a score.
Nate Barbee, Ryan Hester and Lantz Mathers had five tackles each, including four solos, while Mathers added two and a half quarterback sacks. Blake Heintzelman picked up the only interception, returning it for 40 yards.
Northwestern (6-3, 5-0) will play the season finale in Goodwell when the Rangers take on Oklahoma Panhandle State at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 14.
