EDMOND – The Northwestern’s women’s basketball team fell 67-53 in its Sooner Athletic Conference opener on Monday night, as Oklahoma Christian downed Northwestern at the Eagles’ Nest in Edmond.
The Lady Rangers were down five at the half, 28-23, and were outscored 39-30 in the final half of play.
Northwestern shot 32 percent and hit seven three-pointers, while Autumn Klugh sunk five treys on her way to scoring 15 points. Claudia Vazquez had four field goals and four free throws, scoring 12 points. Vazquez posted her second double-double of the year with 10 rebounds.
Oklahoma Christian used 10 three-pointers and shot 39 percent from the field, while Katy Clift led the Lady Eagles with 22 points off the bench. She had six of the Eagles 10 three-pointers.
The Lady Rangers (4-2, 0-1) next take on Rogers State in Claremore on Thursday, Dec. 2. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
