ALVA, Okla. – Northwestern’s Lady Rangers dropped their Sooner Athletic Conference opener, 76-51, to Oklahoma Christian at Percefull Fieldhouse on Monday night.
Northwestern couldn’t overcome a 20-point halftime deficit, but only allowed the Lady Eagles to outscore Northwestern by five points in the final half.
Turnovers plagued the Lady Rangers, as they committed 30 turnovers. Northwestern held the rebounding edge, outrebounding OC 47-39.
The Lady Rangers shot 26 percent and hit only five three-pointers in 33 attempts. Audrey Richmond was Northwestern’s only player in double figures, finishing with 13 points, including nine free throws. Keindra Scott added nine points and Hannah Guthrie scored seven. Claudia Vazquez had a game-high 10 rebounds.
Oklahoma Christian was led by Linsay McCown’s 20 points, while OC shot 33 percent and added 31 free throws.
Northwestern (4-3, 0-1) will host Friends (Kan.) on Tuesday, Nov. 24 for a 7 p.m. game.
